Many of you are
probably thinking about, or are starting to plan, a summer vacation.
But, did you know there are lots of workers out there who have no
vacation time at all?
Yep, vacation is not
required in this country. Neither is holiday time off with pay.

Kane Partners
Chooses McCloskey Partners as Human Resource Expert Source for NBC
10 Event
Silverdale,
Pennsylvania – Heather McCloskey of McCloskey Partners (www.mccloskeypartners.com)
is an expert source of human resource information as heralded by
Kane Partners to support their presentation for "Rev Up Your Resume"
with Tracy Davidson of NBC’s local 10 station. Heather assisted Kane
Partners at the “Rev Up Your Resume” with Tracy Davidson event on
October 8 regarding job coaching candidates and providing insight on
how to orchestrate their resumes. McCloskey has been invited back
again to aid Kane Partners with an Encore “Rev Up Your Resume” with
Tracy Davidson NBC10 event on November 12.
As the rate of
employment and America’s recession remain intriguing topics with
viewers, Kane Partners seeks to provide timely and appropriate
content. Due to knowledge within the field of human resources and
experience, Heather McCloskey, president of McCloskey Partners, was
approached by Kane Partners to serve as a subject matter expert. "In
preparing for the “Rev Up Your Resume” presentation for NBC10
viewers we were looking for the best subject matter experts to
answer resume questions in a one-on-one setting. I was very happy to
hear that Heather McCloskey of McCloskey Partners and her team were
available without hesitation to help our efforts in educating job
seekers on the best way to “Rev Up Your Resume.” We were so
impressed with McCloskey Partners involvement that we invited them
back for our November 12 event” stated Kristin Kane of Kane
Partners.
Heather attended the
early-October event with another colleague from McCloskey Partners,
Denise Hackendahl. “Denise serves McCloskey Partners as the lead
human resources consultant,” adds McCloskey. “Our team of subject
matter experts addressed topics of career coaching, resume writing,
and personal branding in order to help job seekers attain positions
at all desired levels. Through our personalized, one-on-one
sessions, job seekers increased their ability to become prime
candidates and climb to the top echelon of nominees, separating them
from the larger mass of others seeking the same position.”
The human resource
insight of McCloskey Partners as supplied by McCloskey and
Hackendahl is to take shape on the Encore “Rev Up Your Resume” with
Tracy Davidson edition scheduled for November 12, 2009.
The McCloskey Partners
Team is comprised of human resource professionals that have very
diverse backgrounds and whose experience spans across many different
industries and states. Our mission is to partner with our clients
and assist them in making major employment related decisions as well
as to provide options and recommendations that are cost effective
and that minimize liability risks.

The Philadelphia Small Business Examiner asked: What advice could
you provide a small business in regards to hiring an in-house Human
Resources representative vs. outsourcing to an outside service
provider?
McCloskey Partners LLC: We
are asked this question often. When determining the need to bring
someone in house or outsource HR- the first place for a Company to
do their due diligence process is to determine if their needs are
full time or part time. Often times we find that companies will hire
someone full time and be forced to pay a full time salary plus offer
full time benefits when their need is really part time. Going with
an outsourcing relationship allows an employer to only pay for
services when they are used.

The Best Backup
Benefits for Small Employers
As Featured in:

If you can't afford to
offer major employee benefits, don't fret. Consider these
alternative ideas in order to attract top talent without breaking
your small-business budget. In weak and strong economies alike,
employees feel lucky to have jobs. Equally lucky, however, are their
employers, who must be more aggressive than ever in order to attract
top talent. Indeed, modern-day workers don't just favor benefits
like health care, dental care, 401(k) plans, paid vacation and sick
leave; they expect them.

What's Your Due
When You Lose a Job?
After the initial
shock of losing a job wears off, some people get angry and assume
their former employer is trying to screw them out of what they're
entitled to, such as severance pay or vacation days. Indeed, some of
you may be due money that an employer is reluctant to pony up, but
in many cases, you may be fighting a losing battle. I've been
flooded lately with e-mails from readers wondering if their former
managers are trying to pull a fast one, and in many cases, it seems
as if the employer is following the letter of the law, if not
necessarily the law of civility. I include some reader e-mails below
and advice from experts, but the bottom line is: Figure out quickly
whether you're really entitled to what you seek and then move on
with your life.

Your Career: Get

“You need to move on to your next role, whether it is another job or

both of which are diminished if you are busy being angry.”

Communicating Benefit Changes in
Challenging Economic Times
published on the Society For Human Resource
Website. 12/2008
Making changes to employee benefit programs
unsettles employees even in the best of times. By almost any
measure, these are not the best of times. Although it remains to be
seen if the economic downturn that began in 2008 will prove to be
the worst of times, economic pressures are forcing a growing number
of companies to modify their benefit packages.
