Patient Registration/Scheduler

The Patient Registration/Scheduler provides administrative support to all clinical, administrative and financial activities. This support includes creating and filing patient documents, handling incoming phone calls, meeting and greeting patients and families, registering patients, scheduling cases, and preparing reports and documents.

This is a part-time position, 3 days per week, flexible schedule

Essential Duties

  • Ensure accurate and timely entering patient information in to system for scheduling and registration purposes in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Place cases on schedule and work with Director of Nursing to ensure timely and efficient scheduling.
  • Carry out “front desk” duties in a professional and appropriate manner such as greeting patients, family members and visitors; answer incoming telephone calls and relay messages as appropriate and manage the patient registration process.
  • Interact with all patients, practitioners, colleagues and visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Maintain OR schedule.
  • Alert Director of Nursing in a timely manner to any unusual scheduling matters.
  • Administer various registration forms to patient/parent.
  • Answer incoming phone lines; distribute calls as appropriate.
  • File/scan patient documents in to patient records.
  • Accept delivery of supplies as appropriate.
  • Maintain inventory of office supplies and forms.
  • Respond to emergencies as appropriate.
  • Prepare daily OR schedule.
  • Distribute mail as appropriate.
  • Adhere to policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Receptionist experience, preferably in a health care setting.
  • Working knowledge of PCs and other digital devices, and various software programs.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible.
  • Periods of sitting, standing, computer use.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Potential exposure to disruptive or uncontrollable patients.
  • Handle potentially dangerous materials.
  • May have unanticipated need to work overtime.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
